Hi,

I just installed apache on my redhat 7.3 box.
Everything was working perfect.
But this morning when I wanted to work with it my box was DEAD!!
When I restart it I can go in to bios but I can not boot up from anywhear.
Not form Fdd; not from CD; not from Hdd.
This box was always working fine.Never give any sign of being sick.
The box is a :Hp Vectra, PII 350 MHz, 64Mb memory, 4.3gb Hdd.
I have 3 of this so I try to change the memory, Nothing.
I even change the proc., Nothing.

My Fire wall was set to medium. So I don't know.

If any body have any idea please let me know.Right now I start read aboput fire wall settings becouse maybe I need to set it tighter.

Thanks Laci

Your computer not booting to a CD, floppy or HDD doesn't have anything to do with your computer getting attacked..

I would try to boot the computer with just the cpu, ram, and video, and unplug everything else, and see what error I would get. Maybe try to clear the CMOS settings, and check the boot sequence in the BIOS.

Hi Gertrude,

So I did what you told me. I unpluged everything and I could boot up.
After I connect only the Fdd.And look who is back??--My Hp.

So I find out after I pluged back the CD the Harddrive is dead.
I still think something is fishe.
The harddrive did not show anything before.
Maybe it did just I am toooo newbie to this to tell.

But anyway thank you your advise I learned again something.
Thank for Justlinux and the people who take the time to read and answear.Hope fully some day I will be able to give some advise to other ones.

Thank you again Laci

Dead harddrives happen to the best of us. I lost an 80GB-er about a month ago. Ouch.

And, no, crackers didn't do it.
