no sound in Unreal Tournament 2003 & Tux Racer

why is there no sound in my Unreal Tournament game? and there's also no sound in my tux racer....btw i'm using redhat 9, onboard ac97 sound..i can play mp3 on my system...

Do you get any sound related messages if you run the game from a terminal so you can see the output of it?

ooppss...soree.... now my ut2003 got sound...but the sound is a bit jerky/juggy... (how do i say that).. i mean the sound quality is not really good... i read in the readme file... it says something like disabling the sound daemon..how do i do that?
