remove Grub in new linux installation

I have a debian installation that I decided to go ahead and type "Yes I really want to do this" at a prompt...so now its all messed up....not a problem because I backed up all the data on it and I was wanting to try installing knoppix anyway. The only problem, that I know of is that grub was installed in my debian setup and then lilo with knoppix. when I boot I am now getting an error from grub and do not know how to remove this.
