But instead of asking how to get it to work ...... I'm going to post my results.
First this WILL work in RAID 0 if you use the right distro and the drivers from Silicon Images webiste (follow their install instructions)
Here is my rig (well the stuff that matters);
A7N8X Deluxe
2 WD Raptor 10,000 RPM SATA drives in RAID 0
Red Hat 9
First the install sees these drives as SCSI (due to the SCSI chasis I would assume)
so here is my hdparm scores:
hdparm -tT /dev/sda:
buffer-cache reads: 128 mb in 0.27 seconds = 474.07 MB/sec
buffered disk reads: 64 mb in 0.61 seconds = 104.92 MB/sec
It took 9 minutes to load a basic Red Hat install from format to reboot.
As I said follow the instructions and things will work fine. The downside is you have to use either Red Hat or SuSE (for now)..... but with getting 104 mb a sec I can live with it I think :)
