Hi.
I've a new work project, that'll be solaris-based.
How close to Linux has anyone found it?
Main thing - any 'gotchas'?
-Thanks

Nothing to worry about. How are you using it? Coding? Admin?

Hi
Pure admin. We have a product that (for some odd reason, probably historical) that runs on Solaris.
I'll be training the use of the product, but likely I may need to give "system admins" (actually, not a huge level of knowledge required) a separate "care and feeding" training.
I envisage just a handful of commands (start, stop, cleanup, view files, move files) should be well enough. Not sure what the others (installers/users) will require - probably a subset.

I have used Solaris 8 and the command structure is fairly similar to Linux so you should not run into any major snags let me know if you need some reference info and I'll see what I can find for you :D
