i have the linux which i need rpms for as an iso image on my HD , can i tell the package manager to use these images instead of asking for the cds?

and if i want to do an instalation from a hard disk , how do i do that , is it possible to do it using the iso images , if not , what do 1 need ?

You didn't mention what distrobution you were using but I found this on RedHat's site.

http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/linux/RHL-9-Manual/install-guide/s1-begininstall-hd.html

but it looks like you need to ISO images on your hard drive for this to work.
