Hi Group:
I think I'd like to get a fairly inexpensive microphone and run it through either my Soundblaster Live 5.1 card or my Soundblaster Audigy 2 card to record some guitar and percussion sounds for later use in mixing with other digital music tracks. I was thinking about using Audacity for the task -- <<http://audacity.sourceforge.net>>.
I just wanted to inquire if anyone else is doing some inexpensive analog-to-digital recording like this and see what kind of mics., or pre-amps, or pre-amp/compressor combos., etc, etc, to get some decent sound recording for not-a-lot-of-money.
I'd like to hear about your set-up and any other software tools you might be using to make up for cheap hardware.
Thanks for your input.
