I have a PNY GForce4 card I bought about a year ago. It's almost time to upgrade anyways. My system was a dual boot between Win2k Pro and Rh7.3 ( updated kernel ).

Everything was running fine, gaming under wine/winex3. Now, one day while futzing with a screensaver my display lockes up, can't ssh into the box, can't ctrl-alt-F[1-6] to a console.. nadda.

I manually reboot the system, and now that happens when ever a game loads up ( SoF, Quake3, and even "gears" ). It's also crashing my Window's system!! DxDiag - once it tries Dx 8.1, samething as Linux.. freezes totally.

Because this is happening on both systems, I am thinking it's a hardware issue? Anyone?

Thanks,

Also, check you bios settings, make sure they didn't get messed , switched from agp to isa video or onboard video turned on by mistake.

I will try it out when I get home from work, but if I had it select wrong in the BIOS would I be getting any video at all?

Thanks again,

Tried it, no dice. I think my card is shot.. I will test it in another box and see how that goes..

did you overclock the card?

that could be something..

NewEgg.com has some great video cards for under 100 bucks..

i just bought a GF FX 5200 256mb... my GF2MX400 w/ 64mb just isnt enough anymore..
