Hello all, I have just installed slackware 9.1, and I love it, except for one small problem. I can't print from openoffice.org writer or mozilla. I have set up my printer for konqueror, but I don't use it as a web browser. I tried to set up openoffice.org's printer administration, but my printer is not in the list. I can do it manually, but I don't know what to put where it says "enter a command line appropriate for this device". With mozilla, I have no idea where to begin. I select file -> print, and nothing happens. The only choices for the printer selection are PostScript/Default. Somebody please help! Thanks

I do use cups, and the printer still doesn't show up anywhere but in the konqueror browser. Maybe I should re-install the OS.

Sorry, typo. I didn't mean the OS, I meant the user. I had a similar problem a while ago, and somebody told me to delete the accout with the problem, and then put it back. It worked then but it isn't now. I think I have it figured out. I opened the OO.o printer admin program, and figured out how to add my printer. The only thing I need to know is what to put in the command line. There I am completely lost.

The printer is already in CUPS, but the problem is that I have to set it up to work in each program, with the lpr command, but I don't know the correct syntax.

if you are using KDE, then go to settings-->printing manager and set the printer as default.

It already is set as the default printer, that's why it works in konqueror, but it has to be set up in each other program, like OO.o, and gimp. For that you have to put in the lpr command, but I don't know what to put.

Hey Jk,
I am having exactly the same problem, I can set the printer up in CUPS and use it in Konq, but nowhere else.
I too have OO installed but I'm getting nothing out of it...
have you managed to solve the problem yet?

I haven't solved it yet. I think I narrowed the problem down to lpr command that you have to put in. I don't know what to put there, but I hope to find out.

JK
I've got my printer to work when using Moz, OO.
I logged in as root, fired up the Print Manager-KDE Control Module.
Highlighted my printer, clicked,<Properties>(next to Job), clicked<Change>
Configured my printer setting again from there. Confirm all the settings. Exit, and now I can print when using OO, Moz, KDE....etc
Hope this help :-)
