I just installed Mandrake Linux 9.1 and I selected Standard security setting and installed all the packages minus the KDE graphics and the LSB packages. I have an Nvidia nForce MCP Networking Adapter (ethernet 100 megs) which connects to the Lan and internet here at school. My problem is, I can't seem to access the internet at all. I know all the information I need(ip address, net mask, dns etc.) but when I try to use netconf, it says it detects a winmodem. I have no idea what a winmodem is, however I'm pretty sure I don't have one. I guess what I'm asking for is a step by step tutorial on how to get online/access the network. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
