Just did a new ftp install of SuSE 8.2 on my laptop. Everything was working great until I tried to install my Linksys wireless card (WPC11). When I went to the YaST control pannel and set it up and hit finish the power light and link light on the card came on. I could not connect to the net though. Ifconfig and iwconfig does not show the card listed. Cardclt ident will return the info about the card. I checked my router and at some point it did see the card on the network and gave it an ip address. I have read many posts on other people having this problem, but none of the solutions that I have seen work for me. I am very much a linux noobie and this is my first time using SuSE so the problem may be simple and I am just not seeing it.

Side note I got a Orinoco card form a friend to try on the laptop and it did the same thing.

Any Ideas?

Are you still hooked up with a ethernet cable? If so, try unplugging it.

The cable was pluged in when I installed the card the first time, but I have since uninstalled the card, unpluged the cable and reinstalled the card. I did the same thing.

I use to have Red Hat on this laptop and I remember that in RH there was a place where you could go and enable and disable each NIC. Does SuSE have such a place?
