I thought I was having a problem with a SUSE FTP install, but I soon found out that it was also Mandrake 9.1... In the suse ftp install, as soon as I chose manual install, the screen would go black, and never come back. The Mandrake install screen would go black as soon as I hit enter on the Install screen. ???? Any ideas why? hardware issues maybe? this is my hardware:
Pentium 4 3.0 ghz 800 fsb
asus p4c800-e deluxe mb
only using onboard nic, onboard sound is disabled
1 gig corsair pc3200 ram (2 512 sticks)
48x dvd
52x cd rw
soundblaster audigy 2
ati radeon 9700 pro
Any help???
Update*****
Red Hat 9 will install, but it doesn't recognize the nic. That should be easy enough to fix, but I want to run SUSE, not Red Hat.
Thanks for any suggestions you can offer.
Charles

I think you just need to find a driver for your nic or you can install suse using another nic (realtek always work) and then find a driver for your onbord nic.

Sounds like your video card. During the install can you do an Ctrl+Alt+F1 (or is it F3, don't remember) it will take you to another terminal so you can see what was going on.

reason of Linux not being able to install is that you have 1gig of RAM. i don't know about SuSe or RedHat but it is a known bug with MDK 9.1.

they solved it in 9.2

its easy, just reinstall ur kryptodrive and re-formulate you bits back over to NJUE format.
