Snort & Acid

I've gotten both Snort and Acid to work properly on my debian box installing all the packages with apt-get. I am using the default ruleset supplied with debian and it seems to be doing alright for now, it might need a little bit of tweaking in the end but its fine for now.

It just seems that Acid has a little bit too much information to offer me, I am wondering if there are any more simple alternatives out there.
