Well, ever since that problem with the certain cd rom drives and MDK 9.2, they've falled behind in their initial ISO release date. What i want to know is since they have released MDK 9.2 for download, could we download all the files, and then build our own ISO files out of them, and distribute, or do we need to wait for the public release of the ISO's?

Other install methods (http://wuarchive.wustl.edu/pub/linux/distributions/mandrake/9.0/i586/install.htm)
You could make a iso but you may still run into the LG drive problem. Or you could do a boot floppy and go to a network or hard drive type of install.

oh i don't have one of those LG Drives, i was just wondering if that could be done, or would it go against a licence thing. I don't think it does, but just checking. thanks for the install methods though, maybe there is an FTP install or something that can be done of it.
just as another question, can i not make a boot floppy to do a network install? can i just run it from the cd (Boot it, then F1 and then give it a command)

I'm not sure what you're trying to do.
The license is irrelevant if you want to create your own distribution since the Copyleft on the Linux kernel allows you to do this provided the source remain open.
I know that Mandy is having problems with LG drives, but it may be easier to move to another distro than sort out the problems with an existing distro.
Just a thought...

OK, i must have mis stated what i was saying.
1. Mandrake is having trouble getting the offical 9.2 ISO's released, but they released it onto servers. Can a person just take the released files and make an ISO file of it, and then distribute it so then it could be had sooner?
2. If this is allowed, how could you go about getting it and make it bootable, the files on which cd's, etc..
I am no programmer, so i don't want to build a distro based off of mandrake, i just want to know if we can take the released files, download them, and then make them ISO's.

I tried asking this a few days ago when I was interested in Mandrake, I got no useful answers to my question though.
Oh, here (http://www.justlinux.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=116127) is the thread in question.
I since long stopped downloading those files. I'm either going to wait til someone who knows how to do what we want to do posts an howto, or just keep using Gentoo.
