I installed Open Office in Mandrake 9.1 using KDE as my desktop manager. It did not integrate into KDE so I made a link on my desktop to soffice. Open Office opens to a blank, gray screen from which I can choose File/New and select an OO application. What I want are icons on my desktop for each application, i.e. OpenOffice Word, OpenOffice Spreadsheet, etc. How do I do this?
P.S. I cannot modify the installation, the option is grayed out.
Thanks,
Ted.
I just installed OOo 1.1.0 on my MDK 9.1. Now forgive me if I use the wrong file names, I am not on a Linux machine and don't remember them exactly. In the directory called "Program” where you installed OOo, there are some script files. I believe they start with s. So look for swriter, scalc, and etc. Then just create a link to application on your desktop, and point to the "sfile".
Again I might be a little off on the naming convention, but just look for scripts in the "program" folder, and you will see them.
Hope this was able to help you.

Thanks D10, I found them in the /opt directory. Works perfectly!
I really appreciate the help.
Have a great day,
Ted.
