Hi there,
Thought I could give openbox a try and installed it on my new shinny Slack 9.1 box. Everything went fine (or at least I think it went-configure-make-make install). Then I weent in /etc/X11/xinit I did a file called xinitrc.openbox , made a backup of the previous symlink initrc and created a new onee pointing to my xinitrc.openbox. This last file contained simply :

exec openbox

Now,when I startx , X is starting but except the mouse cursor over an empty screen , nothing happens.Could anyone help? I'm soooo close now to make openbox working on my lowend laptop.I can't run KDE so fast, and no , did not installed any other "light" WM's ... yet.
TA!

try right-clicking on the desktop. if you get a menu then Openbox is loaded.

what version? hopefully 3.0-rc4 :) it's _vast_ improvement over the 2.x versions and has never crashed on me even when it was in alpha.
