Hi everyone,

I tried to install a few kdebase rpm's to upgrade to kde3.1.4. Whenever I try to start my computer now, there is an attempt to load the login manager but then crashes back to the command line.
I receive the following errors:
Warning: No interface active (yet?)
Warning: No nameserver in /etc/resolv.conf!

I can get into X manually if I issue the startx command though.

Thanks,

emus

What's in your /etc/resolv.conf file ?

Thanks for the reply.

I believe my etc/resolv.conf file was fine, it contained the correct nameserver specifications.

Anyways, I tried to fix the errors I was getting earlier only to completely mess up the system far beyond my abilities to restore it.

I'm posting from a fresh installation now.

:D

What did you do to mess it up beyond repair ? (just wondering ;))

I used rpm -e on too many kdebase packages, deleted my e-mail client by mistake, removed qt3 among other things and ended up with many dependency issues.
I didn't have much data stored on my home directory anyways so I decided to go for a reinstall.
