Anyone got any computer-related-stuff planned for 10/31 to celebrate Halloween/Allhallows Eve?
Tricks: SSH to some one else's computer and take control type of prank? Bluescreen of death/Windows logo background on neighbors linux box?

Treats: New computer system, hardware? Downloading new distro?

I'm putting that little program that moves the cursor when you click on it on a coworkers windows box. (We're good friends)

Well, no pranks, but I'm working on Feather Linux, a Damn Small Linux remaster. Its objective isn't size, but speed - I decided that remastering from the original Knoppix would require too much streamlining. I'm also adding print support.

no tricks but treat... I'm going to an awesome bbq place tonight with my girlfriend called Famous Daves. I love it. Best BBQ I've had since leaving Memphis, TN 8 or 9 years ago.

but I'm working on Feather Linux
Will that run on a usb keychain? Will it be available on the web?

No wonder, you've been in Cincinnati! Try going across the river towards Florida. :D

I'll be fiddling with my Gentoo 1.4 installation until it plays nice with my network printer, compiles OpenOffice and GNOME 2.4 without errors, while studying for my Chemistry and Math midterms. :(

compiles OpenOffice and GNOME 2.4 without errors

if you want to save a day of compiling time you can download the openoffice bin file from gentoo and install that.

My plans are very humble...
As my wife takes our daughter out around the neighborhood, I'll be at home with the lights off and candles burning answering the door and handing out candy...while playing Vice City with the volume turned way up :D
Then my parents will be over for our local 'community block party' our sub-division has during every holiday/event. It's all family oriented for the kids, but still fun over all...

Then my parents take my daughter away for the weekend and me and my wife are going to Lake Geneva for our anniversary and a weekend with no TV or computers (We were married on Oct. 31st, fun costume party for the reception :))

NO COMPUTERS!! WHAT WILL YOU DO FOR A WHOLE WEEKEND??!!!!

(Have a nice one- I'll bet you slip down to video arcade just once while she's in the shower :D )

Erm, Feather Linux should be available on the web somewhere if I can get sourceforge to host it or something - it should only be about 70MB. If someone converts it, it'll run on a USB keychain - I haven't got any to test it on. It's typical though, I've run into a few problems already; hopefully I'll fix them:)

It's basically Damn Small Linux without the size restrictions, but still the objectives of being speedy.

Vice City with the volume turned up? Wreak havoc with the baseball bat if you want to scare trick-or-treaters:p

That's if the werewolf and bloody body parts on the porch don't scare them off first :D

unless I am mistaken there is no real performance advantage to compiling OO either;)

Today is a state holiday which means a whole lot of potential for Halloween pranks etc. (I said "potential" because I'm still in my office at school working.) I guess it doesnt really matter since it's snowing pretty hard. But if it keeps up the snowing it looks like I'll have lots of leftover candy which I guess is both good and bad.

Maybe I'll try to get some more games compiled or play some ET.

If "setting up another LFS partition in order to be able to replace my devfs-managed /dev with a static /dev (I have no static device nodes in backup... oops), so that kernel 2.6.0-test9 will actually boot" means "another distro", then yeah, I'll be getting another distro...

;)

then yea, I'll be getting another distro

I've noticed one thing, it's easy to get hooked on linux distros. There's so many (and so little time and space):)

I think for halloween I'll make the great migration of my Mandrake 9.1 system to a Gentoo or LFS system, maybe even Mage to keep with the spirit of the holiday. Also get really really really really drunk. REALLY drunk :D

I've got it sorted - no guisers here tonight!!!

I'm dressed in black (as most of the time) and I have my air-pistol ready. In the darkness, any buggers come near this door and they'll have the fright of their lives.

Heheheh........

Be seeing you all VERY soooooonnnnn....

Damn, it stopped snowing. Guess I'll be handing out candy all night instead of some good quality linuxing (Yes, I realize it's not a real verb).

In any case, I hope you all have a happy Halloween!:)
