hi, i have been trying to get scanning to work with my hp psc 1210 printer/scanner/copier, but nothing seems to work. i have gotten printing to work (mostly) fine, but scanning i cant set up.
i have installed the hpoj drivers, and have attempted to run ptal-init setup, but i get the error:
Currently defined device names ( =default):
*** The following devices are using an obsolete configuration
*** file format. Use "/usr/sbin/ptal-init setup"
*** to delete and re-probe them:
--> "mlc:usb:psc_1200_series"
A system-wide default device name is not currently defined.
even if it says it detected it fine before. if i try 2 force it to set the psc_1200_series as the default, it just gives me the same message. then at the end it says nothing was set and i have 2 run it all over 2 make it work
i have redhat 9, and am using the hpinkjet drivers to make printing work. and i have sane and have tried the sane device detect thing, and it said it found the printer but cant confirm if its the scanner too.
any help would greatly be appreciated!
thanks in advance
