Hey all, I'm running Slackware 9.1 (KDE 3.1.4, 2.4.22 kernel, XFree86 4.3.0) on an epox 8rda+ (uses the nforce2 chipset for which I have nvaudio and nvnet installed, no gart drivers) w/ a Geforce 3 ti200 and 256mb of pc2100 ram.
Whenever I download files w/ Konqueror or Firebird my CPU Utilization goes to 100% until it finishes, and is so slow (on a 1.8ghz thoroughbred) that I can hardly use the rest of the computer.
Could this be an issue w/ the nvnet driver or something else entirely?

Look at the system monitor and see what processes are running and using up the cpu cycles.
well according to top, firebird's cpu usage is about 35-50%, kdeinit about 23.0%, and when I opened ksnapshot that used ~20% as well. it says 15.2% user cpu usage and 83% system usage. (this is while downloading)
This looks more and more like nvnet's problem.. hm

The posts I have seen in other forums talk about nvnet using 60% of cpu resources and when they switch to another NIC card the cpu usage drops down to 6%. It's still closed source so the driver can't be fixed unless you can find something in NVIDIA's forum.

well I guess I'm using a different NIC, thanks!
