Cheapest Portable with Linux

A little spin on the oft-asked Linux / Laptop compatibility question; what are some really good *deals* on such a thing? A laptop with 100% Linux compatibility for, say, a max price of $800. Or $1000, if it's a good value.

I've successfully run Linux on an old P133Mhz MMX Dell Latitude Laptop with 24Mb RAM that still has "Noah was here" etched into the bottom of it. Any old laptop will do, Linux has excellent support for them.
