Howdy.
Always supporting the underdog (got an Amiga, myself, with 68Ks), I think you'll like that Yellow Dog
( http://www.yellowdoglinux.com/support/hardware/breakdown/index.php?hw_cat_id=3 ) supports the G4 (2003 model), with some caveats: The Radeon 9200 may have some issues, AirPort, Bluetooth, and sleep modes may have others. You may want to wait for the next kernel/distro bump from them before going out to buy one.
Unless you like the FreeBSD core of OS-X already, then you're all set.
