Alex Cavnar, aka alc6379 10-27-2003, 03:00 AM Try this google search for "overclocking a Pentium 4": http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=%22overclocking+a+Pentium+4%22&btnG=Google+Search aeav 10-27-2003, 08:21 PM Thanks... TheFr00n 10-28-2003, 02:59 PM Like the man says, try the google. But otherwise, there are two standard ways. The P4 1.6A overclocks better than the vanilla 1.6, I forget why. Essentially because the 1.6A generates less heat, so you can crank it up higher without having to add your own cooling. Anyway, the boring method involves the software EasyTune, which should have come free with your motherboard. However, it's M$ only and therefore no use. The true method is to head into your BIOS and start playing around with voltages. May I suggest you do this gently, a little at a time. And keep an eye on the temperature. If you take a smoldering CPU back to the supplier and claim intermittent fan failure they will laugh at you. A lot. And point. That said, by tweaking the clock from 100 up to 125, you can get a P4 1.6a to run at 2GHz quite safely with the stock fan. There may be some initial instability on some chips - in which case run it at 1.9. That's still a lot of extra juice. My 2c worth. justlinux.com
