I need a printer that works FLAWLESSLY in linux..... no messy problems with text alignment etc. Does anyone know of such a printer? hehe... I have a Canon BJC250 and a Lexmark z22 now and both are NOT very compatible with Linux. The 250 isn't bad but it prints slow as hell. Any recommendations?

my epson stylus 640 color works good with it, even over a windows network share it works fine, but that's pretty old. I don't know that there are any printers that are linux specific.

I have a Samsung ML-1710 Monochrome Laser printer. You can pick one up at CompUSA for about $100. Samsung writes their own linux driver and install utility. Check out this site (http://www.linuxprinting.org) for more info and howtos on setup.

This printer works great in Linux. Epson has Linux support softwares and the aftermarket second source ink cartridges are cheap;) Look for this at amazon.com

My printer, an HP LaserJet 4L is listed as perfectly support, and i'm happy to say that that is correct.

I personally use an HP 5550 under Red Hat 9. It works flawlessly. If the printer is listed on the HP Linux Inkjet Driver Project (http://hpinkjet.sourceforge.net/) under the products supported link (http://hpinkjet.sourceforge.net/productssupported.php), then it should work under a properly configured Linux machine.

What are the defaults for printing. It normally gets added with the default as high as the printer supports. I thought my HP 694C was slow, till I realized it was set to 600x600 as the default. Draft (150x150), about 30 seconds a page, which is mighty fast for this OLD OLD printer. :)

I've used a handful of Epson printers with Linux and they seem to work just as well, if not better, with Linux as with Windows. I have a Style Color 880 setup as a network printer and directly attached I have a Stylus Photo 820, great printers.
