I finally looked at the Developer Section at Slashdot and saw this.

Whats the joke here? Was there really no file dialog or does this one just look better?

Maybe its not KDE all the way now, they might of finall gotten around to the small desktop features. Or time for more wrappers....

<edit>
Jighlights from slashdot's comments:

It's refreshing to see that our Free and Open Source Software elders and betters continue to make such ground-breaking improvements at such a pace. Their innovation knows no bounds.

Considering the time and effort that has gone into this file selector, the previews of porn pics ought to be able to jump out and give you a blow job...

"previews" is an option in the kde replacement (or wrapper)
to the straight up qt file dialog box....

there couldn't be anything more anoying or pointless or wastefull
or harder to use...(or more importantly why can't you make it go away!)
**just an opinion**

don't get me wrong i like kde and i love some of the qt wrappers
the history wrapper on the list box is shear beauty..

yes that hideous file dialog must have taken alot of time and effort to create
and it takes even longer to actually come up and get on your nerves

i think it's even been making my new beagle puppy act strangly at night
