Printer/Scanner Problem

hp psc 1210v all-in-one printer and scanner combo. I cant get either to work :( i have mandrake 9.1 and whenever i go to the mandrake control center and try to configure my rpinter or scanner it will say no printer or scanner is connected. Since the printer and scanner are together, I only have one USB cable connected. It came with a disk that supported Windows and Mac....
Can someone please help me! I need this printer for some schoolwork
