I am using linux mandrake 9.1 and trying to connect to the internet I have a ASUS P4P800 onboard gigabyte lan 3com 3C940 card, I have installed linuxx drivers from asus homepage, to connect to the internet I use adsl through a speedstream router, using a dynamic ip and ppp0e.

I used this guide http://www.siliconvalleyccie.com/linux-hn/network-linux.htm but when I enter the command "adsl-start" I get this message

/usr/sbin/adsl-start: line 194: 5555 terminated $connect "$@" >/dev/null 2>&1

I am new at this so I really don't know whats important information and whats not so if you need anything else let me know.

Sorry, I don't know anything about ADSL.
