Linux in LAN

I don't know how to add my machine name to list of network machines in LAN.
I access to other machines (win2K) in LAN .but my machine is not in list of network neighborhood network.

have you got samba running at all, is the lan a workgroup or domain? if its a domain what is the server your running? have a read of these threads
