I am searching Internet on VPN. Kindly advise where can I find a technical article on introduction of VPN. Pointers will be appreciated.

Hi,

Thanks for your advice. Sorry for not having provided specific requirements in my orginal posting.

I am preparing a presentation material on VPN to my company introducing its technology and the advantage of its deployment. The article shall not go into full detail on selection of software and protocol, its installation, setup, etc. but touching generally on its working principle, advantage and disadvantage, who needs it, etc.

I have been searching with google on Internet without much result. Most of them confine on recommendation of software and protocol, its installation, setup. etc.

I learned about VPNs mostly by experimenting with them. Some advantages:

Replace leased lines (saves money)
Connect office branches to a central branch
Allow remote employees to connect to use network services

Obviously you can find specific uses, but these two are the most popular.
