See the subject.

I'm trying to install the fonts so I can use some fluxbox styles I like. However, the instructions that are given on fluxbox's site are for gentoo and I don't have the commands that are cited in the example.

Help, anyone?

You want to use Fontconfig (http://pdx.freedesktop.org/~fontconfig/fontconfig-user.html) to handle the fonts in Slackware, it should already be installed. Do you have any other desktop installed? like KDE? If you do you could use KDE to install the font and it would be available for Fluxie. If Fluxie is the only Wm then you should be able to install the fonts via a slackware pkg with pkg tool, an rpm using rpm, or the source tgz.

well, that all worked well and good.

now that it's about 6 months later, i have slack 9.1 (slowly becoming -current) and a new computer.

i installed the artwiz fonts, but only a few are displaying. snap, fkp, and a few others work, but the others won't display (flux themes) and a look at the terminal output says that it is unable to load the font.

the newest revision to the fonts lets you see them in gtk apps, so i was trying to display them there, and just got a window saying it couldn't find the font as well.

i checked the folder with the fonts and all the files are there, and fc-cache -fv said that it added all the fonts in the directory. is there something i haven't thought of? or are some of the fonts corrupted?

Check your /etc/X11/XF86Config file and see if a font directory is commented out. Uncomment it and see if running fc-cache again will help make them available. .

no, none of the directories are commented out.

like i said, i can use some of the artwiz fonts, just not all of them. i tired re doing it, but i got the same result.

Do you have "xfontsel' available? Can it pick up those fonts?

Here (http://fluxmod.dk/content.php?article.4)
is a good post/article on installing/using fonts in fluxbox. Also has links for downloading fonts. And I noticed it said artwiz were not scalable, could that be part of your problem?

i don't think so, because i have :unscaled after the directory name in my xorg.conf file. again, i can use some of the artwiz fonts, but not all.
