I have an HP Pavillion 533w

I just recently download and burned to a cd-r a copy of Knoppix I'm really getting to enjoy it.

I love the fact the everything is working great the sound card is supported my modem is supported and everything is fine. I don't have to install a thing

The only problem if facing right now besides getting to learn to us Linux is that I can only write to a FAT32 Hardrive.

Know My hp pavillion came with 2 partitions the first is the main partiion NTFS C:60 Gig and the other is for the System Recovery in case someting goes wrong i can fire that up because i only have the restore cds.

Know I'am able to read from both partitions and have succesfully written a test file in a test directory to the system restore partition.

Know my question is should i be messing with this partition I mean i can just create a folder and put some stuff. Right

I'm no Linux Expert nor a Windows Expert, but I'm no NOOB either.

Another thing is that the system restore has only 1.17 GB to Spare is this enough for like lets says practing learning to program with perl and python and what not.

It's the familys computer and I don't want to jack it up I already got really in trouble when I tried to install redhat 9 and it didn't work and had to send my pc back to hp to get it repaired.

Is there anyway i can make the system restore partition bigger Or should I just hold off and wait till i have cash to buy my own Puter??

resizing partitions has a high risk of data corruption.

I agree, what software are you going to use to resize the partition? and this could be especiley sp? risky if you mess up the recovery partition:eek: can you get a copy of the recovery cd's just in case? and to

I was also going to compliment you on the nice avatar je_fro it's like Cartman said Titts!

Did you get it from somewhere online how about a URL?

As to Resizing the Partition I'm going to hold off that for a while. I'll just use the space left over on the system restore partition.

I do have 2 sets of backup system restore cds.

I've never had a problem resizing a windows partition with Powerquest's Partition Magic. I've used three different versions of it and it's worked great, except it messes up grub when you change your partions.

But there's always a first time, so backing up is your friend.
