Hi,

Several games, not all, have F/X sound but no music sound, e.g. Doom2: prboom.

Anway fix this?

Are you running under KDE by chance?

I had a problem once with artsd not allowing other applications to access sound devices. If this is the case, disable artsd startup in the KDE control panel and restart KDE (OR kill artsd manually).

On second thought, if it was an artsd problem, I don't think you would have ANY sound in those apps.

What are you running.....distro-wise?

Am running Mandrake 8.2, I think, 'Bluebird'.

Some games have no sound, some F/X sound but no music, some all the sound.

Using SB (?perhaps should install alsa - whatever that is). Using ESS 1896 soundcard (??1896).
