what are the best SINGLE player games for linux? I have a linux box with no internet connection, and I'd like to know if there are any good games I could run on it. It has 512 megabytes of ram, an athlon xp 1900+, and a geforce 3 '3d prophet' graphics card with 64 megs of onboard ram.

I'd check the gaming boards on this site. There's loads of info there and you don't have to wait for replies to get that information.

Unreal Tournament runs on linux, though i'm not entirely sure you weren't after free (beer/speach) games, as opposed to closed source ones you have to pay for...

I find that even though I have Quake 3 and Unreal Tournament 2003 installed on my linux system Iam thoroughly addicted to Rocks and Diamonds- http://www.artsoft.org/rocksndiamonds/

Cannon Smash and frozen bubble are also good time-wasters...

Probally because you posted this in /dev/random you might of missed the very top of the games forum there is a sticky of Linux game links which has TONS of linux games.

If you like Lemmings, check out Pingus (http://pingus.seul.org/) I got some fun looks while playing this on my laptop on a flight the other week :)

Return to Castle Wolfenstien is great for single player. I think there are 'bots available for it now as well.
