KDE notstarting in slack 9.1

I installed slack9.1 for the first time. I installed lilo in the mbr. slack boots but stops at a log in prompt. The log in gui doesnt start to get into kde. Any suggestions?

Did you install kde? Assuming yes..

Did you configure X?

Once those two are done, edit /etc/inittab and change the default runlevel from 3 to 4.
