WHOA!
You've got a girlfriend?!
:D
Actually, this reminds me of the story that R.J.Mical once told of how he set about developing the Amiga OS. Since it was a multitasking computer, he'd set the compiler to do it's stuff, and stick a command at the end of the CLI to play the alarm to wake him up when it was done. Apparently, he was the only one of the team who got any sleep...
To put this back on a Linux footing, have you updated your SSH yet?
By the way, is that 12:30 AM or PM?

She sleeping til 1230pm.. I had to get up for work at 625am.. I think that is fair retribution...

Yes - but i keep getting b****cked for not paying her enough attention, and playing with gentoo...
hehe thats good, wouldnt do it too often or she might get wise
She told me she just gonna turn the volume down when I leave next time..
That X10 stuff looks really cool... Maybe when I can afford a house (yeah - right!!) I'll have a crack!!
Updated SSH? no - should I? Need to find out where to get info on when to update for security reasons... (I assume thats what its about?)

Sleeping 'til 1230? Well, I'm supposed to be in work by 9, but I don't usually get here until 10, so I know the feeling!
I remember installing a WinAmp plugin for Windows that allowed telnetting into an unpriveleged port to control it.
I eventually had a friend in Canada login and play about with it.
Must've been the World's most expensive remote control - a laptop. But hell, there aren't many remote controls that work from Canada!

If she's good looking, cooks well, and tolerates you playing a bit with computers- LET HER SLEEP! KEEP HER HAPPY! GIVE HER A FOOT MASSAGE WHEN YOU GET HOME!! "A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush".
A well rested girlfriend is a whole lot better than an irritable girlfriend. Some advice distilled from experience.

You might also make sure that she doesn't visit these forums or you are in trouble.

Yes, there was a buffer-overrun problem with SSH a while back. Make darn sure it's patched, otherwise you may as well be running WinXP...
You may have to do some digging through the docs, but you should be able to use SSH to control your player's volume and other controls.
And tell her your handle is "mdwatts", so you don't get into trouble :D
