It's all there: Domains, Active Directory, Security
<snip>
Samba 3.0 fully implements Kerberos 5 authentication, SMB signing for tamper-proof file serving sessions, and SCHANNEL security for secure remote procedure calls. Samba 3.0 works "out of the box" with the improved security settings of Windows 2003 Domain Controllers.

Thanks for the info CMonster as I'll keep it in mind whenever I get around to testing Samba for file/printer sharing at work.

A-ha!!..time to scuttle off to that favorite "Download Joint" on e 33 st
in NYC..(sheepish voice I uh don't have broadband yet)..and get it.
The documentation alone is excellent.
:D I dote on even "simplistic" samba configs..resulting in that magic phrase
SAMBA SERVER!!
..in Network Neighborhood.:D :cool:
Anyone have experience yet upgrading 2.2.8a to 3.0?
I have a Samba PDC with Xp/Win98 client which work well, just curious if I should consider upgrading and what the ramifications are.
Will the original 2.2.8a smb.conf work, etc...

I've been waiting for this release for a long time so I have something new to tinker with at work.
