Best Firewall and A/V

I would like to know the best free Firewall and Antivirus software for Red Hat 9 linux (in your opinion) or at least the best thing to use until I could buy a firewall or A/V application. Thanks for the help.

iptables would be your main tool for configuring your firewalls. There are a whole bunch of frontends to make it easier to configure. Nothing like learning the real thing though. Look for iptables tutorials online. As for anti-virus software, Linux is pretty well hardened against it by default. But check out www.freshmeat.net for a variety of software.
