Ok this might be a bit long but here it goes--
I recently downloaded and compiled the sources for Penggy, Which is a Linux dialer for people with AOL accounts. It requires the universal tun/tap driver and Guile to operate. I know very little about both of these items and documentation is scarce. I've managed to make the Penggy program connect succesfully, however I can only connect at 26400. I've tried different modems, swapping out phone cords, etc. nothing helps. I thought it could have been the notorious AOL traffic jam problems. so I signed up for a free trial of Eskimo north internet access. Using Kppp I was able to configure my modem and log on succesfully, but still only at 26400. Both of the modem that I have tried are 56k. The phone cable seem to be fine, so it has to be a configuration problem. What am I doing wrong? When I'm connected, ifconfig gives me 2 devices:
lo -for my loopback interface
tun0 -for my connection device I would guess
However I cannot figure out where to configure "tun0". Any help at all would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Tj
