I am trying to install bsd 4.8 and I have two hard drives.

Here is how things look.

ad0s1 (hardrive 1)

swap
/
/usr

ad1s1 (hardrive 2)

/temp
/var
swap
/usr2

-----------------------------------------------

When I goto install it says
"unable to swap to /dev/ad0s1b. Device is not configured this may cause the installation to fail at some point if you don't have enough memory"

So I went ahead and clicked okay and this message pops up

"unable to make new filesystem on ad0s1a"

I'm not sure what the problem is. I had BSD on these two drives before, they were set up a little differently but it used to work. I didn't format both drives before, could this be the problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Interesting. If I were you, I would try and fdisk those partitions. Delete them, re-create them, and then format them. I bet it takes then. I had a similar problem once and this cured it for me.

Off topic, but wasn't Odin's Son Thor?

Yeah Odin had many sons but he is also the all father and is suppose to be the father of the white race.

Thanks for the tip, I will give it a shot.
