Hello,
I'm having trouble getting my modem to connect at anything above 26400. I am using the PengAol software in RH linux 8.0 and it allows me to connect just fine but very slowly. My modem is a USR courier v.everything 56k. Using my parents computer I can connect to the same dial-up # at 40000+ but for some reason I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong at home.
Any guidance would be helpfull.

TIA Tj

Check to see if you may have bad wires or connections. If you can move the computer to the one that gets 40,000+ and see what it gets. If it gets 40K then the wire needs some attention. If it doesn't then you may need to adjust some settings.

If it points to the wire, check to see if there is some that is coiled up. Sometimes that will affect the signal.

Hope this helps or someone has more ideas.
