I am looking for the best router software (unix based of course) on the market. What i am looking to do is, turn my old 486 into a router. I am going to have 2 eth cards (1 10/100, and 1 wireless) I am looking to have the wired ethernet card be hooked up to a hub for my room but then have the wireless ethernet card connect me to my wireless access point.

Anyone out there know of any programs/os's that can do this for me?

Any help would be appreciated.

Really any version of Linux will do that.

If you're looking for a version of Linux to run on that machine, try a forum search using the terms "old hardware".

Once you've gotten set up with a Linux distro, check out this HOWTO:

I'm using IPCop now on an old Pentium 133MHz. It's very easy to install.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I think i might go with IPCop, it seems like the most functional one of them all!
