i need some help getting my wireless card working under slackware 9, it is one of the cards supported under linux, i ran it under rh 9 perfectly fine. But what i need to know is the URL of a good howto/tutorial, or the steps that i need to go thru so that it will work... TIA
Perhaps the Wireless HOWTO (http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/docs/HOWTO/other-formats/html_single/Wireless-HOWTO.html) might help you. If you've installed the documentation packages, on Slackware you should be able to find it at /usr/doc/Linux-HOWTOs/Wireless-HOWTO.

from more investigation it seems that all the pcmcia source is already installed since when i insert the card and the use the command "lsmod" it shows the pcmcia drivers and and orinco_cs modules and whatnot....
all the lights on the card light up too...so i think the only problem is that the card is not detecting my wireless hub...could it be an SSID problem?? is there some sort of config program i am supposed to go thru to get it to look for the NET connection thru there? cause the net won't work if i unplug the 10/100 ethernet and reboot. Any ideas???

Yes, you need to run /sbin/netconfig to set up your default gateway and such. Also, /etc/wlan/wlan.conf should store your SSID, WEP key and such.

all of the above did not fix it, the network works fine when i plug it in (NOTE: network goes thru same router) cardmgr picks it up fine when it boots up, it seems it just can't find my wireless network cause the light on the card keeps blinking even tho when i boot it up in windows without moving the laptop any close it picks up the wireless network in perferct reception.

I remeber there was a post where you had to use "-s" (I'm not sure about this, double-check it) before the SSID in the config file.

hrmm..i will try this but it seems that the problem it is having is that it cannot detect my wireless network, not the card, but rather it cannot find the router
could someone give me the steps that they used to get their wireless card working in slackware 9.
