Hi,

I just downloaded every file of the SuSE 8.2 from the SuSE FTP, and I'm now trying to make the install from the hard drive.
For those who wants details, I realized I did exactly the same as described here (http://jalug.alteroo.com/Members/pigeonflight/suse8.2-harddriveinstall) .
Now, the problem is that, when I want to launch the installation, I choose the right partition, then specify the "suseroot" directory (which is the directory of the image of the SuSE FTP), but I get the message "Cannot find image file". In fact, that's the same problem as described there (http://www.netsys.com/suse-linux-e/2001/07/msg00613.html).
But I couldn't find any solution on the net.

Some more info : I first tried to install with the "suseroot" directory on a NTFS partition. Then I also tried with the "suseroot" directory on a ext3 partition. Same problem. As source directory location, I tried many things, like "/suseroot", "suseroot", "/mnt/hda6/suseroot", "suseroot/"...

If someone has a suggestion... it'll be welcome, 'cause I ran out of ideas ! :(

Information I found at the suse site suggests you cannot install from a complete download (installation should run from the ftp server because the installation program will be looking for the boot.iso image on the server). However, if you have the capability of burning a CD, the instructions state that you can download the ISO image /boot/boot.iso and burn an installation CD from that.
look at this for more info: ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/current/README.FTP

I downloaded again all the files from the /boot folder (they were of the same size as on the FTP, but it seems that some of them where corrupted !!), and then tried again, and now it works !
