Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : Thinking about installing FreeBSD, I have a few questions.
Hi, I am thinking about installing FreeBSD tonight. I have ausccessfully installed RedHat, Mandrake, Slackware, and Debian in the past. Do you think I could get FreeBSD installed? Well, I have some questions before I try :).
1.) Does FreeBSD perform well?
2.) Is FreeBSD hard to install?
3.) Where do I download FreeBSD.
4.) How do I install it.
Thanks,
Jason

1) General performance of FreeBSD is on-par with most Linux distros if not better.
2) If you can install slackware then you will have no problems with FreeBSD.
3) The FreeBSD website: http://www.freebsd.org/
4) It installs similarly to most Linux Distros, stick in the CD , boot from it, follow instructions.
Thanks :) I will post my results later tonight. Would you happen to know how I could burn the ISOs? I am using Slackware right now. Thanks.

You would use cdrecord application on slackware if you are using a IDE to SCSI emulation or a SCSI burner.
That link though it shows how to setup a burner, at the end it shows how to check if the burner is detected and how to burn a ISO file.

Good luck.

...Moving this into Other UNIX Based OSes, and adding a suggestion:
Go ahead and install FreeBSD, but before asking any questions you might have here, check out The FreeBSD Handbook (http://www.freebsd.org/doc/handbook/). You will probably have any question you'll start off with answered there.
Have fun! :)
