okie im trying to get my printer installed lexmark provides the drivers for linux but guess what they be in .rpm flavor...and i dont like that flavor =)

ive done a search for the program and found nothing but a bunch of refrences to it but the trail ends there

so if anybody can help me out that would be great

rpm2targz is a slackware app.

i don't think it depends on rpm.

here are the deps listed in the gentoo ebuild for it:

DEPEND="virtual/glibc
sys-apps/cpio
sys-apps/file"

alien will convert package types, but I think you need to have rpm installed so it can extract the original files...

G4L search results for 'rpm2targz' (http://www.google.com/linux?hl=en&lr=&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=rpm2targz&btnG=Google+Search) of which the first two listed are Gentoo.

could also use rpm2tgz

I wouldnt recommend using these tools, due to the directory stuctures being drifferent, so more often then not they dont work...

Chances are something like cups will have a driver for a lexmark printer

the question is where is the tar.gz file
i checked those results im looking for the package

im new but i dont see any at those locations
