Wow, this program finally has a good GUI and seems to be working! For those who have no clue what I'm talking about, pick up the program at www.edonkey2000.com.
Who here has ever used it before?

Bittorrent is a way to download single files off the internet. It revolves around a server and people willing to give up a small portion of their bandwidth in order to keep server load down and download speeds up. It's useful when you expect a file to be slashdotted.
eDonkey2000 is a P2P file sharing program. It's similar to Kazaa, Morpheus, Gnutella, Napster, etc. It allows one to put files on his or her system up for free download. It employs something called the 'horde' system, whereby the people with the highest upload speeds will also recieve the highest download speeds. You can find many songs, and videos on there, but right now they just need people to get their files up on there. It has really matured coming into version 0.5 of the core, and version 0.6 of the gui.
BTW, it can be a bit cryptic for new users to set up. If anyone needs help just post in here and I'll try to answer questions that you might have.

I've had some trouble with edonkey. It always says that I'm firewalled and it gives me a low id everytime I connect. I've tried going to the website that edonkey provides to test your connection and everytime I get a timeout message. I know I'm not behind a firewall, so any suggestions.

I've use eMule and xMule. Neither have properly let me down as KaZaA did.
Need I say more?
Well, I use xMule now. I guess I did have to!!!

I've used it a few times. It's a great program, we just need more people on the servers. It can be hard to find a file sometimes on the server. I don't really have the time to be looking for files, though. I'm plenty busy with school and I can usually get the free software with BitTorrent or just online the old fashioned way.

eDonkey and Gtk-Gnutella are the workhorses of my P2P filesharing activities.
I am also firewalled, but I just let it sit and it connects to a server eventually, and starts downloading files. Once it gets going after a few hours (finding sources, etc) it really is quite usable.
