Hi all!

I am thinking about installing Linux Mandrake 9.1 as my main and only operatingsystem, and i have downloaded the 3 ISO images from http://ftp.sunet.se.

Now, i don't have any cd's, so is there any way to do the instalation without burning the cd's, using some program like maybe Daemon tools?

Thanks for the help.

Im afraid a solution like Daemon tools will not be possible.

I know that some distros allow you to install off of a loopback device, which is actually mounting the ISO as a filesystem. Of course, you would need to have a running copy already. To mount a loopback device try mount -o loop /path/to/iso /mountpoint I don't know if Mandrake supports that, but you can search their site for more info.

Did you have a look on Mandrake's ftp servers to see if they have any text files on the different types of installs you can do? They should have something on installing from the iso images sitting on a HD partition.

I installed my distro on a laptop that did not have a cdrom. The installation bootdisk had the option to install from HD.

I try to use this hd-floppy-image, but it can not read a NT file system - any solution?

Burn cd's or make a FAT file system for the ISO files - I will make a FAT partition if you can not give me any better advise.

excuse me my bad english :)

Does the hd-floppy-image include ntfs support? Anything in the Mandrake install docs on their ftp servers on this?

If all else fails, your vfat suggestion should work.
