I have just built a new system, with a SATA raid configuration. I have my suse 8.1 files copied to one of the hard disk partitions and a boot CD. When I boot the installation from CD and then select, installation from hard disk, clearly the system cannot see the raid disks.
Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to instal in this configuration.

I've personally no idea, but have you tried Google For Linux (http://www.google.com/linux) using the terms "SATA"+"RAID"+"install"+"SuSE"?

You might turn up something with that. Also, my gut feeling is that you may not be able to install directly onto the SATA RAID, as I'm pretty sure that even the latest version of SuSE doesn't support SATA RAID.

Are you using an SATA RAID card? What chipset? That'd be a good candidate for a Google For Linux (http://www.google.com/linux) search, too.

If it happens to be a Promise Controller (it probably is), it would be on the Promise site. This (http://www.promise.com/support/download/download2_eng.asp?productId=104&category=driver&os=1) is a link to the drivers of my particular card for Suse 8.1. If it works out for you, please tell me about it, as I'm trying to do a SATA RAID with that card. Good Luck!
