gentoo progress bar at CLI

This is the most annoying problem... at the command line in gentoo linux installation I get a constantly growing progress bar. It progressively moves my cursor over one space at a time on the screen. It also shows up in nano, it makes trying to do anything on there impossible. Has anyone else encountered this problem? if so how did you fix it? Thanks

It has been a while since I installed Gentoo, BUT isn't the solution to that problem mentioned somewhere in their installation or other configuration documentation.

I remember reading it on the Gentoo site.

i switched over to another terminal, and the problem didn't persist. hopefully this problem only is on the live cd
