I began installing RH6 into my HD(compaq presario 4100). I was installing from a text book CD. Midway(DiskDruid stage), I encountered problems and was flashed the following message:

//
An error has occured reading the partition table for the block device HDA. the Error was: No such file or directory.
//

My question being, how do I rivert back to WindowXP? I am in a state of limbo. if I log on with a boot floppy, I get to 'A' prompt. Without floppy, I get into Linux installation screen. I tried safe mode and other option at diogniostics screen, nothing seems to work.

My intention being first rivert back to state when it was brand new(2 days old) then restart with linux installation.

Without the floppy, you get the Linux installation screen? Doesn't that mean that the CD is still in the drive?

If your CD isn't in the drive and you get the install screen, load up the boot floppy and type:

fdisk /mbr

at the DOS prompt.

I was installing from a text book CD

Then it must rather old. Ppl here would certainly suggest to go for a newer release, 8 or 9 or even 7.3.

I remember using 7.1, it was buggy, maybe to incompatibility issues w/ my old h/ware.
